Up till recently, discerning visitors have bemoaned the lack of a really luxurious hotel in Havana. The Saratoga, which opened in November 2005, has rectified the situation. Standing on the western edge of the Historical Centre of the city, its elegant façade overlooks the other nineteenth—century architectural glories of the Prado and Parque Central.

Hotel NH Parque Central is a luxury 5-star hotel within touching distance of the old town. surrounded by numerous famous buildings, such as the Capitolio, The García Lorca Theatre and the Museum of Modern Arts. Inside, the hotel is very welcoming, professional and comfortable and combines the elegance of colonial style with modern services (including the best wi-fi in town). It is strongly favored by repeat business visitors to Havana.

The Nacional is a magnificent hotel, fully deserving the ranking that places it amongst the world´s best. It is Havana´s signature hotel soaked in history which you will tangibly feel as soon as you are ushered into the South-of-Spain inspired lobby with its mosaics, deep leather couches, chandeliers and precious hardwood ceilings.

In a central intersection of Vedado neighborhood, at one side of Havana´s famous waterfront avenue, the Malecón, with a beautiful view of the ocean and the city, rises Hotel Meliá Cohíba, the capital´s preferred five-star business hotel. Architecturally this 22-storey glass and concrete behemoth is often derided as blight on the city skyline.

This is one of Cuba´s provincial gems. First, take the location just one block from the main plaza in the heart of downtown. Then there´s the thoughtful remodel of this three-story, neoclassical 19th-century hotel, which exudes elegant yesteryear airs thanks to its antiques and quality antique reproductions.

This five-star high-rise hotel is the real class act in town, although its eyebrow-raising, Cubist-inspired post-modernist architecture stops many arrivers dead in their tracks. We actually like it, despite its gaudy blood-red and flamboyant sky-blue paint job framing the towering walls of glass. The vast atrium lobby gleams with marble beneath a soaring plate-glass ceiling.

The Telegrafo has been a famous Havana institution since 1888 and during the early twentieth century it was regarded as one of the best hotels in Latin America.
The ambience of the Telegrafo is definitely one of cosmopolitan hustle and bustle, as opposed to drowsy colonial charm.

The Sevilla Biltmore, as it was known before the Revolution, was one of the establishments owned and run by Havana´s Mafia network. Santos Trafficante Junior had shares in it and the Cuban-Italian owner, Amletto Battisti, was the kingpin of the city´s lottery racket. It has a rather curious layout but its public areas are very attractive.

The Riviera is another notable Havana landmark being one of the last mafia hotels completed in the 1950´s by Meyer Lansky as part of a plan to establish a network of casino hotels in Cuba just before the Revolution. The lobby is pure art deco although unfortunately somewhat run-down now.

Hotel Victoria offers comfortable boutique-style hotel lodging in Havana´s Vedado district. The hotel is very close to the Hotel Nacional, Malecón and El Gato Tuerto filin club.
The pool is small and you are probably better off walking down the road to the Nacional if you fancy a few hours working on a tan. Service is good although can be a little over-attentive for some people.

The Habana Libre was the old Havana Hilton which was used as the new Revolutionary Government´s headquarters for the first three months of 1959. It is a busy place with 572 rooms located on one of Havana´s busiest junctions.

The Hotel Guatánamo sounds somewhat ominous and the 124-room, Soviet architecture-inspired concrete 4-storey signature hotel on Plaza Marina Grajales, is not exactly a fountain of joy.
On the other hand, it has been recently refurbished and features 2 restaurants, swimming pool, beauty parlour, 2 bars, ice cream parlour, shop, cafeteria, grill, disco and entertainment.
